Dear Piero,

I am investigating the use of such handstamps in world war 1. They seem
to have been used when the official authorizing military unit handstamp
(+/- the censor's handstamp) was missing.
I cannot find anything written about this in English or Italian except a
bit on the internet.
I have been collecting examples for some years and am now writing about
them.
Please would you be so kind as to direct me to any literature about
these handstamps and, in particular, any official regulations about
making and using them?

I and my readers will be ever so grateful for your kind help which I
will freely acknowledge (of course!).
