Salve apro questo spazio dedicato alle navi civili e militari straniere che riportano i loro annulli su documenti viaggiati. Inizio con una cartolina inviata dalla nave giapponese CHICHIBU MARU annullante i f.bolli con il timbro del 14 Maggio 1931, che era una nave passeggeri giapponese rinominata successivamente KAMAKURA MARU. Fu affondata durante il secondo conflitto Mondiale, facendo più di duemila vittime tra militari e civili a bordo, e della quale fornisco i dettagli recuperati dal web.Saluti Riccardo.

Il Chichibu Maru è stato costruito per la compagnia di navigazione Nippon Yusen dalla ditta Yokohama Dock nel 1930. Aveva un raggio di 22,6 metri, una lunghezza di 178 metri e una tonnellata di 17,498. La velocità di crociera era di 19 nodi, con un massimo di 21 nodi. La nave potrebbe portare 817 passeggeri.

Prima della guerra, la nave trasportava passeggeri tra Yokohama e San Francisco . Anche il Principe Takamatsu e la principessa Takamatsu hanno viaggiato su questa nave. Ha cambiato il suo nome due volte: prima ha ripetuto Titibu Maru nel 1938, a seguito dell'adozione della romanizzazione di Kunrei-shiki ; poi - dopo aver realizzato la somiglianza del nome con "tit" (un termine inglese volgare indicante il seno femminile) - rinominato Kamakura Maru nel 1939.

Nel 1942 fu confiscata dalla Marina giapponese Imperiale per servire come nave da trasporto di truppe, e anche come nave ospedaliera.

Il 28 aprile 1943, il Kamakura Maru , navigando da Manila a Singapore e portando circa 2500 soldati e civili, fu silurato dal sottomarino statunitense USS Gudgeon . La nave è stata colpita da due siluri e affondata entro 12 minuti. Quattro giorni dopo, 465 sopravvissuti sono stati salvati dal mare da navi giapponesi, mentre circa 2.035 persone sono rimaste vittime dell'affondamento.

The ship loads 47,710 Red Cross parcels for POWs in the Far East.
The western nationals are disembarked from KAMAKURA MARU. 115 Australian, British and Allied nationals are embarked on CITY OF CANTERBURY for the return voyage to Australia. Other repatriates wait for transportation on other vessels.

At 2315, LtCdr William S. Post’s GUDGEON (SS-212) sights a large ship zig-zagging on southerly course at 10-17-48N, 121-44E, later identified as KAMAKURA MARU.
28 April 1943:
Sulu Sea, 30 miles SW of Naso Point, Panay, Philippines. At 0104, LtCdr Post fires a spread of four torpedoes at the target making 18 knots 3,200 yards away. Two minutes later, two torpedoes hit KAMAKURA MARU starboard side in her No. 4 hold and auxiliary machinery compartment; a heavy fire breaks out at the stern. Twelve minutes later, she suddenly upends and goes down by the stern at 10-25N, 121-440E. At 0140, the surfaced GUDGEON passes through the area where the ship went down, and sights a dozen lifeboats, floating debris and a large number of survivors.
2 May 1943:
After the estimated time of arrival of KAMAKURA MARU passes, the IJN command in the Philippines issues orders to commence a search for her. Only 28 sailors (of 176) and 437 passengers are eventually rescued.
31 May 1943:
Removed from the Navy list.

Feldpost M 20333 apparteneva al Cacciatorpediniere tedesco Friedrich Lui varato nel 1937 e affondato nel mare di Barents il 31.12.42 nello scontro a fuoco con gli incrociatori inglesi che scortavano il convoglio "JW-51 B" di aiuti alla Russia.
